Company Ledger presented its new Bluetooth-enabled device at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
Bluetooth support means that the Nano X is compatible with mobile devices. This innovation is very useful for users wallet Ledger Nano S because most of them are using mobile computers, rarely turning to laptops or desktop PCs.
Chief Executive officer Ledger Eric Larchevêque said:
"The fact that we have a mobile application that is compatible with the Nano X, actually is a great evolution of hardware for this line. Connecting Nano X via Bluetooth, you can not worry about security. Ledger devices store keys but an external application on a computing device is needed to write and send transactions".
Larchevêque could not call an exact retail cost Nano X. At the moment the Nano S is sold for 69,99 USD. On the website Ledger it is alleged that it sold over 1.3 million Nano S.
According to Larchevêque, the novelty is a more advanced device than the Ledger Nano S. for Example, the display of the product has slightly bigger size than the previous model. This is a very important detail, because the safe use of Nano X requires many actions at the most hardware device.
In addition, the device has a large amount of memory. This is because the new tokens make the cryptosystem more difficult, and the interaction of various programs with different protocols should be fast and reliable. In order to maintain high safety standards, the company decided Ledger that each Protocol must have its own application for sending and receiving coins.
"We have a lot of third party developers, create apps. We want to make sure that these apps will be able to sign the transaction only for their private key. The user with one open app can't accidentally sign the transaction under the wrong protocol."
Ledger Nano X can store applications for 100 cryptocurrency assets, six times more than Nano S. Larchevêque also added that the mobile application Ledger Live appears in the iTunes and Google Play on January 16.
According to a press release Ledger, the company received the award at the Consumer Electronics Show for innovation in cybersecurity and personal privacy. Thus, the cryptocurrency wallet Nano X was recognized consumer electronics at the official level. Lausevic said about this:
"Of course, the Consumer Electronics Show is not a cryptocurrency exhibition. However, given that our new product enjoys a huge number of people, it cannot be considered as a niche device. When you have more than one million clients, it means that you really do consumer electronics".
