27 Jul ICO project KICKICO was attacked by hackers which resulted in the attackers stole about 70 million tokens in total amount of 7.7 million dollars.
A distinctive feature of the incident with KICKICO, is that the hackers got direct access to the smart contract blockchain-network project, using the private key from the smart contract KickCoin.
Due to the presence of full access to smart contract KickCoin, the hackers eliminated the tokens 40 addresses, and then set up 40 new accounts with identical balance. Thus criminals managed to steal money with 40 different accounts. It is noteworthy that the emissions KICKICO not changed since stolen from the blockchain of the network funds was not destroyed, but copied.
According to the chief Executive officer KICKICO Anti Danilevsky, a cyber attack became known after complaints of several users, which hackers managed to steal a total of 800 thousand dollars. A few hours later the team KICKICO managed to regain access to the smart contract and change the compromised private key to another private key from a cold wallet, thereby securing the network and assets. After solving the problem all owners of the compromised accounts were paid full compensation.
According to the developers KICKICO, their project caught the attention of hackers because in the past two weeks, the price of KickCoin increased three times ― from 0.4 to 0.12 of the dollar.
