Former CTO of FB-blockchain development department was replaced by a more competent specialist.
The company management has made several personnel changes, which resulted in appointment of a new CTO on Facebook blockchain development - Evan Chang. Kevin Weil, who used to work as VP of Product at Instagram, has been appointed to this position in Facebook.
The new appointment was announced after Chang, who has been working in Facebook since 2015, updated his profile on Linkedln. It is noteworthy that Chang had worked for Apple for more than ten years and, together with his colleagues, invented the LLVM-compiler generating low-level machine code for devices of this company. In addition, Chang is the adviser of ChainLink and Zilliga blockchain projects.
How was it before?
Two months ago, it was reported that David Marcus, a former head of PayPal and a member of the Board of Directors of Coinbase cryptocurrency exchanges, was the Director of this department. The team researching blockchain technology and its usage options consisted of several dozen people including even top managers of Instagram. This department was fully controlled by the Mike Schroepfer, CTO of Facebook.
